Periodontal Plastic Surgery Training Cycle

The Paroplastic Curriculum in periodontal plastic surgery is a complete cycle of two inseparable modules, to be taken in full. Six days of training in Aix-en-Provence, entirely driven by hands-on practice, to progress from the fundamentals of muco-gingival microsurgery to advanced root-coverage techniques. The Paroplastic practice box is included. Completing both modules unlocks Paroplastic Community status.

Objectives

  • Master the fundamental principles of muco-gingival plastic microsurgery.
  • Safely harvest a connective tissue graft (lateral palate, tuberosity) and adapt the graft.
  • Master the tunneling technique and its variations (laterally closed tunnel, VISTA).
  • Develop rigorous clinical decision-making in the treatment of gingival recessions.

Program

Day 1 — Fundamentals and palatal harvesting

  • Principles of muco-gingival plastic surgery; aesthetics and function in recession management.
  • Palatal anatomy and management of harvesting-related risks.
  • Harvesting techniques (lateral palate, tuberosity) and graft adaptation.
  • Hands-on practice: palatal harvesting on models.

Day 2 — Buried connective tissue grafts and tunneling

  • Diagnosis and classification of recessions; coverage objectives.
  • Success factors of the buried connective tissue graft.
  • Step-by-step tunneling: incisions, graft placement, sutures.
  • Indications, contraindications, prognosis. Hands-on practice.

Day 3 — Complications, sutures and integration into practice

  • Management of cervical wear lesions.
  • Microsurgical incisions and sutures.
  • Surgical treatment planning and postoperative follow-up.
  • Communication, quotes and presentation to the patient.

  • Perform a free gingival graft (FGG).
  • Implement the TKF technique.
  • Develop advanced decision-making: when and how to choose each technique.
